Sculptor Awarded $685,000 Over Infringing Stamp Design

In this precedent-setting decision, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled for Gaylord v. U.S. on Friday that Gaylord should be compensated for the market value of a license to his design. Gaylord, the sculptor of the Korean War Veterans Memorial, which we first discussed after the second win on appeal, has been awarded 10 percent of the United States Post Service profits from selling the collector stamps that featured the sculptures.
