Overview

Christopher Wright prepares and prosecutes patent applications and manages patent portfolios to assist clients — who include individual inventors, start-ups, and some of the world’s largest tech companies — in strategically building their global patent portfolios and protecting their innovations throughout the world.

Bringing over a decade’s experience in patent work to his practice, Chris manages portfolios of hundreds of patent applications and issued patents in the U.S. and worldwide, with an emphasis on patent preparation and prosecution in the electrical, computer, and mechanical arts. Before joining Fish & Richardson, Chris worked as a control systems engineer to design and program industrial control systems at Coca-Cola Enterprises and CH2M Hill Lockwood Greene. He now applies his engineering acumen to cultivate a deep understanding of his clients’ technologies and protect them effectively.  

Chris is known for the diligence and tenacity he devotes to building patent portfolios from the ground up. He has significant experience advising on strategic patent portfolio growth for larger companies and harvesting patentable innovations for early-stage companies. His versatility extends to his capacity to provide patent protection counsel not only in the U.S. but also worldwide; he prepares patent applications that result in valuable protection in Europe and other international jurisdictions.

Since 2018, Chris has prepared and prosecuted patent applications for pro bono inventor clients through Georgia PATENTS. His pro bono practice also includes working with the National Homelessness Law Center to identify and oppose local laws and ordinances that adversely impact people experiencing homelessness. 

In his free time, Chris enjoys golf, skiing, playing tennis and soccer with his kids, and many other outdoor activities with his family.
