Background

Alyaman Amer is Technology Specialist, Patent Agent for the Patent Group in Fish & Richardson’s Dallas office. Alyaman handles prosecution of patent portfolios in the United States and internationally for entities ranging from individual inventors to large multinational companies.  Alyaman focuses his practice on a broad range of intellectual property matters, with a particular focus on patent prosecution.  Alyaman also provides technological advice in support of validity and infringement, and conducts patentability analyses in electrical, mechanical and materials, computer-based technologies, and software areas.

Alyaman has represented clients on a wide range of technical issues, including oil and gas drilling, seismic image processing, computer architecture, biological implants, mobile applications, robotics, autonomous vehicles, image analysis and compression, object-recognition algorithms, machine-learning algorithms (both supervised and unsupervised), data structures, data storage, nanotechnology, optics, light detection and ranging (LIDAR), fluorescence, resonators and waveguides, lasers, antennas, radar, electromagnetics, light-field projection, cameras, semiconductor design and fabrication, battery technology, and television broadcast technology.

Prior to joining Fish & Richardson, Alyaman was a patent agent for a law firm in Chicago, Illinois where he was a member of the firm’s electrical technologies practice.  His experience includes academic research in battery technology at Texas A&M and an engineering position at a telecommunications engineering company in Dubai.  Alyaman has also published several articles in various intellectual property publications.

Alyaman is fluent in Arabic.
