Boston has been New England's largest and most important city since the early 1700s. Indeed, Oliver Wendell Holmes once referred to Boston as "the hub of the universe."

Bostonians have time and again forged world-changing inventions in technology, including the telephone, the microwave, and the internet. And Fish & Richardson has been there to help patent and enforce many of the inventions that have changed the way we live.

Fish & Richardson's litigation accomplishments are equally impressive today; the firm handles more patent litigation than any other law firm in the world. The patent prosecution group has been called the "Best in Boston" and the firm was one of the first to establish a biotechnology practice. Recently, the February/March 2007 Minnesota Law & Politics named Fish & Richardson as one of the top 50 largest law firms in the state. We're also considered a "provider of expertise" from Twin Cities Business in their Biosciences 2006 special report. In July 2006, IP Law & Business named Fish & Richardson the top patent litigation firm in the country for the 6th year in a row.

With recognition like this it's not a surprise that our clients generally make the headlines. The Twin Cities office represents a host of high profile clients including Porsche Cars North America, 3M, Cargill, the University of Minnesota, and Allergan. Our attorneys, along with other Fish & Richardson offices, represented Fresenius Medical Care in 2006 in a jury trial that rejected Baxter International's infringement claim and damages request for $87 million and in achieving a jury verdict invalidating all four patents-at-issue. Recently, Minnesota Law & Politics named our 3M Co. v. Avery Dennison Corp. case in which we achieved a successful jury verdict as the top Intellectual Property lawsuit of the year.

So, now that you know a little bit about our office and a little bit about our team - here's a little bit about our city: only Minneapolis could so perfectly combine the fast pace of a big city with the safe comforts of a small town. Maybe that's why Kiplinger’s Personal Finance ranked Minneapolis/St. Paul number two among America's “Smart Cities,” based on affordability and livability. Come to think of it, Minneapolis is consistently ranked among the best places to live. But don't take our word for it - come see for yourself.
