Background

Vasiliy Mayer is an Associate in the Dallas office of Fish & Richardson. His practice emphasizes patent litigation in the areas of electrical engineering and computer science, including cryptography, GIS, semiconductor devices, and wireless communication.

Vasiliy received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Oklahoma, which he attended on a full National Merit Scholarship. As an undergraduate, Vasiliy won a math competition hosted by OU’s College of Engineering. He also participated in a community service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega, and was the leader of his engineering capstone project team. Vasiliy completed his undergraduate studies with a 4.0 GPA. His Master’s Thesis was based on research funded by the Federal Aviation Administration: Vasiliy collected flight path data and wrote software to examine the effects of terrain-induced turbulence on low-flying, civil aircraft.

Prior to entering law, Vasiliy worked in the seismic industry. At the time, the industry was beginning to shift towards wireless instruments for recording data. Vasiliy coded a mesh networking protocol that enabled operators to communicate with thousands of wide-spread seismic data recorders by relaying messages over short range, wireless links.

Vasiliy has experience in both patent prosecution and patent litigation. His litigation experience includes drafting dispositive motions, managing discovery, and coordinating joint defense group activity.

When he is not serving his clients, Vasiliy enjoys reading and taking online courses on topics that interest him.
