Fish & Richardson has been named a top trademark law firm by World Trademark Review (WTR) 1000, a guide to the world’s leading trademark practitioners and firms.  According to WTR, Fish is as “an obvious choice for trademarks, with a number of excellent practitioners” and the firm “tops the market in Massachusetts and also boasts a strong presence in California and Texas.”

Specific Fish attorneys included in the rankings include: Cynthia Johnson Walden, Trademark and Copyright Practice Group Leader/principal in Boston; Timothy French, managing principal of the Boston office; Lisa Greenwald-Swire, principal in Silicon Valley; Victor Johnson, principal in Dallas and Russell Rippamonti, principal in Dallas.

The WTR 1000 is the only standalone ranking publication to focus exclusively on trademark practices and practitioners.  The research covers more than 50 key jurisdictions and identifies the leading practitioners and their firms in both contentious and non-contentious work. Our full rankings can be viewed here.

With 10 offices in the U.S. and one in Germany, Fish’s trademark attorneys provide a full range of trademark advice and representation, including trademark counseling, prosecution, clearance work, complex litigation, and alternative dispute resolution.

In January 2010, Managing Intellectual Property named In re Bose, which Fish handled on behalf of Bose Corporation, as one of the top 10 most important IP cases of 2009, and gave the firm the U.S. Trademark Case of the Year award in 2010.  In re Bose was a landmark decision in which the Federal Circuit overturned the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board’s (TTAB) controversial Medinol decision and reversed a TTAB order canceling the registration of the famous Bose WAVE trademark, setting a new standard for proving fraud.
