Washington, D.C., June 5, 2012 – Fish & Richardson announced today that Thomas S. “Monty” Fusco, formerly a Supervisory Attorney for the International Trade Commission (ITC), has joined the firm as Of Counsel in its Litigation Group.  Mr. Fusco, who has over 23 years of experience at the ITC, will focus his practice on Section 337 ITC investigations.

“Fish has one of the leading ITC patent litigation practices in the country, and we are thrilled to have Monty join our team,” said Michael McKeon, a principal at Fish & Richardson and one of the firm’s top ITC attorneys.  “Monty’s vast experience supervising and handling Section 337 investigations at the ITC will be of great value to our clients.”

As a supervisory ITC attorney for the past six years, Mr. Fusco oversaw approximately one third of all the Section 337 investigations in the Office of Unfair Import Investigations.  Previously, he spent 12 years as a senior litigation attorney in the division.  He started his career at the ITC as an attorney and advisor for an administrative law judge.

Fish serves as lead national counsel on more patent litigation at the ITC than any other law firm.  With more than 20 attorneys who are focused on ITC proceedings, Fish’s lawyers are both skilled in patent law and knowledgeable about the ITC’s unique rules and procedures.  The firm brings a multidisciplinary approach to ITC proceedings, drawing on its expertise in patent law, litigation, and licensing of intellectual property rights to give clients a competitive edge in ITC disputes.

In March 2012, Fish received an elite top “Band 1” ranking in the U.S. for its ITC practice in the Chambers Global 2012 rankings.  In 2011, Fish was named “International Trade Group of the Year” by Law360 in recognition of its significant patent wins and extensive ITC expertise and “ITC Litigation Firm of the Year” by Managing Intellectual Property.

Mr. Fusco received his J.D. from the Washington College of Law at American University in 1985, his M.A. from UCLA in 1981, and his B.A. from the University of Arizona in 1977.  He is admitted to practice in Maryland.
