Boston, MA, July 24, 2013 – Fish & Richardson today announced that Sheryl Koval Garko, previously Counsel at Goodwin Procter, has joined the firm’s Boston office as Of Counsel in its IP Litigation Group.  She will continue to focus her practice on patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and false advertising litigation.  Garko is the fifth lateral hire for Fish’s Litigation Group this year.

Garko has 10 years of experience in patent cases involving diverse areas of technology, including pharmaceutical products, prepaid wireless telephones, VoIP telephony, athletic shoes, medical devices, manufacturing processes, and genetic sequencing.  She has handled numerous lawsuits in federal and state courts nationwide, and has experience practicing before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.  In 2008, Garko served as a Special Assistant District Attorney for Middlesex County.

“We are very excited to have a skilled litigator like Sheryl Garko join our growing team,” said Ann Cathcart Chaplin, Litigation Practice Group Leader at Fish.  “She brings a tremendous breadth of knowledge in both trademark and copyright litigation, which is a rapidly expanding practice area for our firm, and in patent litigation.  She will be a great asset to our clients.”

Garko received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2003, where she was Executive Editor for the Journal of Law and Politics.  She received her A.B., cum laude, from Dartmouth College in 1999.
