Fish also ranks #1 in the “Go To IP Firms,” “Go To IP Litigation Firms,” “Most Favored IP Boutique,” and “Best at Complex Patent Work” categories

Boston, MA, July 10, 2014 – Fish & Richardson today announced that it has been named the #1 “Powerhouse” law firm that general counsel rely on for “Complex IP Litigation” according to BTI Consulting Group’s Intellectual Property Outlook report.  Fish also topped the list of firms in the “Go To IP Firms,” “Go To IP Litigation Firms,” “Most Favored IP Boutique,” and “Best at Complex Patent Work” categories, with more mentions than other firm among the Fortune 1000 in-house attorneys that were surveyed.

Fish was also included in the list of 12 firms (not ranked) that are “The IP VIPS: Outstanding in all Aspects of IP.”  These firms “stand out with IP decision makers in virtually all areas of IP for offering one-stop-shopping in complex prosecution, litigation and licensing work.”

Fish swept the BTI report – with five #1 Powerhouse rankings – based on “considerable depth of experience, personalized client service and exceptional business understanding to tackle all IP issues.”  When BTI asked general counsel which law firm was best suited to handle the rigors of the most complex IP cases, Fish was #1 based on an “overwhelming” number of responses.

“The combination of our large docket of cases, fluency in every technology area imaginable, and vast trial expertise means that we can quickly and efficiently develop winning strategies in complex IP cases,” said Ann Cathcart Chaplin, Litigation Practice Group Leader at Fish & Richardson.  “There are no litigation strategies or jurisdictions that we have not faced, so we develop creative approaches that other firms would never think of.”

According to BTI President Michael Rynowecer, the “it” factor that makes Fish stand out is “the flexibility to deal with whatever comes up during complex litigation, no matter how hard.  Some of these really complex IP cases can get very big very fast.  If you’re a firm that has the ability to quickly marshal highly experienced and informed resources whenever needed, that gives you an advantage, and that’s what makes a firm really stand out.”

BTI Consulting Group’s research included interviews with over 175 general counsel and IP decision makers at Fortune 1000 companies between December 2013 and June 2014.
