The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recently announced that its amended schedule of fees for processing applications and other filings will go into effect on April 28, 2009. The FCC announced these amended fees in September 2008, but at the time did not announce their effective date.

In addition to the application processing fee, smaller FCC regulatory fees associated with wireless services, such as microwave and private land mobile radio services, are generally paid up front for the term of the license at the time a renewal application or application for a new license is filed. Thus, for these services, the total FCC filing fee includes both the application processing fee and the regulatory fee. Failure to remit the full amount of the filing fee within 10 days after an application is filed will result in dismissal of the application.

The FCC’s updated fee filing guides are available at http://www.fcc.gov/fees/appfees.html.
