DALLAS – Fish & Richardson has been named one of the top litigation departments in the state by the publishers of Texas Lawyer newspaper, which highlights the firm’s ongoing streak of plaintiff and defense wins.

Led by Dallas Managing Principal Tom Melsheimer, Fish is one of only two midsize general litigation groups recognized for courtroom excellence.

Since 2012, Fish’s Texas litigators have secured an impressive run of wins in state and federal courts in Texas and other judicial venues. Among the most high-profile was a $158 million settlement against a major pharmaceutical manufacturer in a lawsuit over alleged illegal marketing tactics. In addition to Mr. Melsheimer, Fish litigators Natalie Arbaugh and Tommy Jacks represented whistle-blower Allen Jones in the historic case, which resulted in the largest Medicaid fraud settlement in Texas history and the state’s second-largest consumer protection settlement during all of 2012.

In March 2012, Mr. Melsheimer and fellow Fish attorneys Carl Bruce, John Goetz, Andrew Graben and Neil MacNabnay successfully defended of a group of airlines and online ticketing companies against patent infringement claims totaling nearly $300 million in alleged damages.

In November 2012, Stephen E. Fox of Dallas led the Fish team in a major Fair Labor Standards Act defense win for one of the largest grocery retail merchandising brokers in the U.S.

The “Litigation Departments of the Year” section appears as a supplement to the Aug. 19 edition of Texas Lawyer, the state’s oldest independent legal publication. The first-ever listing recognizes the state’s leading general litigation and specialty litigation practice groups.
