Loretta Auer, Fish’s CIO, won the “Leadership Award” at the International Legal Technology Association’s (ILTA) Distinguished Peer Awards Dinner last night in Nashville.  ILTA has an international membership of over 1,200 law firms and legal departments representing more than 600,000 IT professionals.  The Leadership Award is given to an individual who “leads transformational and innovative change, collaborates with other leaders and cultivates new leaders within their organization.”

Loretta was recognized for her creativity and vision in helping our firm compete successfully in a continually transforming environment.  Loretta has championed initiatives to improve firm wide administrative systems and staff productivity through our Best Practices and Re-Engineering/Transformation programs that will enable us to maintain/gain a competitive advantage in many areas of our practice.  She has mentored and developed an information technology management staff that has accomplished projects using the best examples of emerging technologies and development platforms in the legal industry, including Net-based reporting applications, SharePoint, Windows 7, Office 2010 and e-discovery.

Fish is very pleased that Loretta has been formally recognized for the great leadership she provides to our firm, not only in the area of technology, but as an outstanding team player who is committed to the success of Fish.  They are fortunate to have Loretta on their team.

In addition to Loretta, Fish received four additional individual nominations and was up for “Innovative Member of the Year” – more nominations than any other law firm.  ILTA recognized the following:

Financial Management Award: Neeraj Aggarwal, Director of Financial Operations was nominated for his involvement in the successful development and deployment of a technology-based accounts payable solution that improved transparency, eliminating episodes of missing invoices for vendors, employees and accounting staff; improved the recovery rate of pass-through costs to clients; and reduced the time it takes to process invoices.

Young Professional Award: Son Nguyen, Senior Manager of Software Development was nominated for migrating Office 2003 Word toolbars into Ribbon Controls for Word 2010, while his team was responsible for ensuring all software –– custom and third party –– would be compatible with the firm’s Windows 7 and Office 2010 rollout. Son also wrote an award-winning Outlook plug-in that allows attorneys and staff to access all major data sources across the firm from one centralized location.

User Support Services Award: Linda Vega, Manager of IT Support Services was nominated for her seamless and successful firmwide rollout of a Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010 upgrade. She was responsible for marketing, training, testing of templates and management of the desktop imaging team.

Risk & Records Management Award: Lou Aidukas, Director of Conflicts was nominated for fundamentally changing the firm’s new matter, new client and personnel intake process.  She and her team developed and implemented a new conflicts system and process. This included integrating LegalKEY into the firm’s existing systems, launching a new reporting methodology, creating a formal Intake Committee and giving the online intake system a substantial facelift.
