Hires prominent former Jones Day attorneys and plans for substantial growth of Atlanta office in 2006

Boston, MA, January 4, 2006 — The national law firm of Fish & Richardson P.C. today announced the opening of a new office in Atlanta, Georgia. Prominent patent litigation attorneys Nagendra (“Nick”) Setty, formerly with the Atlanta office of Jones Day, will join the firm as a principal. Christopher O. Green and Troy Van Aacken from Jones Day will join the firm as associates. Setty joined the firm on January 1; Kent, Green, and Van Aacken will join the firm on January 6. The firm plans for substantial growth in its new Atlanta office in 2006.

“We have positioned ourselves in technology centers across the U.S., and expanding in Atlanta is a logical place for us to grow. Opening an office in the Southeast means we now have offices in virtually every geographic region in the country, which enables us to have the only truly national intellectual property practice,” said Peter Devlin, President of Fish & Richardson. “Our firm has been growing through the addition of top talent through lateral hires as well as through our expansion into corporate law and general litigation, and this expansion fits well into what has been a very successful growth strategy. We look forward to growing our Atlanta office with lateral hires who have the right combination of technical, legal, and trial skills we need to serve our clients.”

Fish & Richardson handles more patent litigation than any other law firm in the U.S.; in four of the past five years, including 2005, the firm has ranked number one in the IP Law & Business survey of top patent litigation firms. The firm also handles more patent cases at the International Trade Commission than any other firm.

Fish & Richardson has nine other offices throughout the U.S.: Austin, Boston, Dallas, Delaware, Minneapolis, New York, San Diego, Silicon Valley, and Washington D.C.

The Atlanta office will be led by Nick Setty. He specializes in complex patent litigation with a particular emphasis on high technology and software companies; he has been lead counsel in more than 40 patent, trademark, and trade secret cases. Clients of the new Atlanta Fish & Richardson office include Acuity Brands, AirDefense, CipherTrust, Hydek, Valve, LLC, and Witness Systems.

Mr. Setty has been recognized in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers for his experience in intellectual property law and as a Georgia “Super Lawyer” for intellectual property litigation.
