Fish Awards Space Camp Scholarships to Three Silicon Valley Area Students

Redwood City, CA July 15, 2010 — Fish & Richardson P.C. announced today that three localstudents from the Selby Lane School - Jocelyn Aguilar (grade 7), Casey Gernaat (grade 7), and Brandon Lang (grade 7) - have been chosen to receive full scholarships to attend the U.S. Space & Rocket Center Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama this summer. Fish & Richardson's Space Camp Scholarships provide a unique opportunity for students interested in math, science and technology to get a first hand immersion in the American space program.

The scholarship recipients will travel with a teacher for the six-day Space Camp program, which includes simulated space shuttle missions in the training simulators, presentations on space exploration, and learning about mission control. The students receive full tuition to Space Camp, roundtrip airfare and accommodations for themselves and their chaperones, spending money, and a "flight spacesuit" to bring home. For many of the students, the trip to Space Camp is their first experience flying in an airplane and seeing a different part of the United States.

"We offer this program every year and every year the kids rave about how much they love it," said Howard Pollack, Managing Principal of Fish's Silicon Valley office in Redwood City. "We always look forward to their coming back to the office to report on their adventures, and hope that this experience will encourage them to explore science and technology for the rest of their lives."

Fish has been providing Space Camp scholarships for deserving students since 1999. The firm sends 30 students - representing the regions of the firm's 10 offices across the country - along with 10 chaperones to Space Camp each year. The students are selected by Fish based on a written application and an interview at the firm.
