Fish & Richardson has been named an “IP Litigation Powerhouse” according to BTI Consulting Group’s Litigation Outlook 2015 survey of 300 corporate counsel. Fish was one of three top firms that in-house counsel turn to in high-stakes intellectual property (IP) litigation, having earned trust through unparalleled technical expertise and winning track records.

Fish maintains a diverse IP practice of more than 200 litigators who represent “the most innovative clients in the world” including Microsoft Corp., Google Inc., Samsung, and Allergan Inc. “These clients benefit from a firm that boasts more lawyers with technical degrees – including 81 Ph.D.s – than its competitors, along with a host of first-chair trial lawyers and 24 former Federal Circuit clerks,” said Ann Cathcart Chaplin, the Litigation Practice Group Leader at Fish, in an interview with Law360.

Fish’s big wins over the past year include a $105 million jury verdict for client Power Integrations, which was named one of the “Top IP Verdicts of 2014” by Law360 and described as a “signature win.” Fish won the case in March 2014 in federal district court in San Francisco, with a jury finding that Fairchild Semiconductor willfully infringed Power Integrations’ patents for controller chips used in energy-efficient power supplies and chargers. In July 2014, Fish won an important high-stakes Federal Circuit patent case for LG Electronics in its long battle with Alcatel-Lucent SA subsidiary, Multimedia Patent Trust.

To conduct its annual study of the litigation market, BTI interviewed 300 general counsel and in-house litigation counsel at top-spending organizations to isolate the best opportunities and law firms – by name – in litigation. Interviews were conducted between March 13, 2014 and September 16, 2014.
