San Diego Daily Transcript, December 2007

Two Fish & Richardson Southern California associates – Desa Burton and Michael Rosen – were recognized by the San Diego Daily Transcript as Top Young Attorneys in the region.

Desa, who has been practicing law for three years, focuses her practice on complex litigation including IP and patent litigation.

Recently, Desa was also selected as a member of the Stakeholder 100 Class of 2007, an honor given to the 100 top performing law firm associates of color in the United States.

Her contributions to the firm are significant as she serves on several internal committees including the Community Involvement Committee, Military Outreach, and the Black Legal Staff Affinity Group. Desa also serves as a presenter at educational programs on legal and business topics. She is on the Board of Trustees for the California Ballet Association and participates in the Earl B. Gilliam Association, an affiliate of the California Bar Association representing the interests of African American lawyers, judges and law students.

Prior to practicing law, Desa achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy serving as a Surface Warfare Officer. She also served in the U.S. Naval Reserve as a Staff Officer in support of U.S. Central Command.

Mike has also been practicing law for three years and specializes in IP litigation for small and large clients, including Microsoft, non-profit research institutes, and pioneering medical device companies.

He is a guest lecturer at USD School of Law on intellectual property issues and their intersection with employment law.

An outstanding writer and legal researcher, Mike is a regular contributor to the LA Daily Journal and an occasional contributor to the SD Daily Transcript on issues of IP law. He has also written for TCS Daily, The Politico, and the San Diego Jewish World.

Despite his young age, Mike also serves as the secretary for the Republican Party of San Diego County, and editor of the Republican Political Report, which has a circulation of several hundred thousand. He is a frequent and popular commentator on radio and television news programs and political debates on behalf of the party.
