Boston, MA, June 27, 2013 – Fish & Richardson announced today that both its Patent Prosecution and Patent Litigation practices received a top Tier 1 national ranking from The Legal 500 Guide to the most preeminent U.S. law firms. Fish also received top national rankings for its Patent Litigation/International Trade Commission (ITC) and Trademark and Copyright practices.

According to The Legal 500, Fish’s Tier 1 Patent Prosecution practice “continues to have a solid reputation…based on both its strong Fortune 500-centric client base and capable, large team.” In particular, The Legal 500 recommended patent partners Richard Anderson and Jeffrey Barclay along with “the hugely experienced” Charles Hieken for his lifetime of work.

Fish’s Tier 1 Patent Litigation practice “handles a high volume of district court patent cases and is highly regarded for its strong trial experience.” In addition to singling out John Dragseth and Jonathan Singer, The Legal 500 made note of “key attorneys” David Healey, Thomas Melsheimer, and Frank Scherkenbach.”

Fish’s ITC practice “continues to handle a high volume of ITC cases and represents major companies.” Ruffin Cordell was one of only eight attorneys in the country named to the elite “Leading ITC Lawyers” list (for the third year in a row), while David Hoffman, Michael McKeon, and Richard Sterba also were mentioned for their impressive ITC work.

Fish’s Trademark and Copyright practice was noted for its ability to “handle the full spectrum of copyright prosecution, counseling and litigation work,” as well as its “expertise, focus and depth in trademark litigation,” “strong anti-counterfeiting practices,” and “ability to manage global brands.” Copyright group chair and Kristen McCallion were noted, along with litigators David Hosp and Mark Puzella.

Inclusion in The Legal 500 is based solely on merit and the series is widely regarded as offering the definitive judgment of law firm capabilities.
