Boston, MA, June 29, 2011 – Fish & Richardson announced today that its Patent Prosecution practice received a top Tier 1 national ranking from The Legal 500 Guide to the most preeminent U.S. law firms.  Fish also received top national rankings for its International Trade Commission (ITC), Patent Litigation, and Copyright practices.

According to The Legal 500, Fish’s Patent Prosecution practice is “excellent and knowledgeable,” with the firm being “particularly noted for its expertise in the science and technology industries.”  In addition to recognizing life sciences expert Peter Ludwig, The Legal 500 highlighted Richard Anderson, Jeffrey Barclay, and Charles Hieken from the patent group.

Fish’s Patent Litigation practice was recognized as “highly strategic, with a very deep bench with non-paralleled IP backgrounds.”  In the Patent litigation Practice, The Legal 500 singled out Juanita Brooks, Susan Coletti, Timothy Devlin, Katherine Kelly Lutton, William Marsden, Jr., and Jonathan Singer for special recognition.

Fish’s ITC Patent Litigation practice was selected by The Legal 500 for its strong expertise in ITC matters, noting that the firm “regularly handles patent litigation cases before the ITC.”  Ruffin Cordell was named to the The Legal 500’s elite list of “Leading Lawyers” for ITC cases.  Michael McKeon was also recognized for his ITC work.

The Legal 500 commended Fish’s Copyright practice for its “strength in copyright, particularly in publishing, design, online and software.”  Practice Group Leader Cynthia Johnson Walden and Kristen McCallion were given special recognition in the copyright area.

The Legal 500 series is widely regarded as the definitive judgment of law firm capabilities.  Published for over 20 years, The Legal 500 series of guides reviews the strengths and strategies of law firms, providing research and law firm rankings to enable clients to identify the best law firm for the job.  Research includes in-depth interviews with law firm clients and lawyers across the country.
