“Appellate Hot List” for the Second Year in a Row

Boston, MA, April 17, 2009 – Fish & Richardson has been named to the National Law Journal’s second annual “Appellate Hot List” for the second year in a row for having one of the top appellate practices in the country. The NLJ’S 2009 Appellate Hot List singles out a small, elite group of law firms that “contributed in meaningful ways to the most important appeals of the year.” The list was published in the NLJ’s April 6, 2009 issue.

“We are honored to have our firm’s appellate practice named as one of the best in the country,” said Peter Devlin, President of Fish & Richardson. “Fish was one of only a few firms to make this prestigious list for IP appellate work, so this ranking is particularly gratifying. We have an extraordinarily talented team of highly skilled appellate lawyers and this NLJ recognition confirms what our clients already know – Fish is truly a powerhouse when it comes to IP litigation and appellate work.”

The NLJ reported that Fish “boasts a century of cutting-edge intellectual property appeals.” The Appellate Hot List highlighted Fish’s noteworthy appellate work on behalf of clients Microsoft, L.G. Electronics, and Predicate Logic in three cases: Lucent Techs. Inc. v. Microsoft Corp., Kyocera Wireless Corp. v. Int’l Trade Comm’n., and Predicate Logic Inc. v. Distributive Software Inc.

Fish’s appellate practice, which includes nearly 30 experienced appellate lawyers, is led by Robert Hillman and Frank Porcelli in the firm’s Boston office and John Dragseth in the firm’s Twin Cities office. The NLJ noted that, “Fish has a reputation for ‘flipping’ hard cases that other firms lost at trial.”
