Background

Joseph Koipally is a Principal in the Boston office of Fish & Richardson. He has broad experience in patent prosecution and client counseling in biotechnology and the medical sciences.  He has experience representing universities, start-up companies, as well as mid-sized and large biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. He is regularly involved in patent preparation and prosecution, patentability and freedom-to-operate opinions, due diligence, as well as general patent counseling in the biotechnology arts.

Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Koipally had six years of previous law firm experience as a Technology Specialist, as well as a Senior Technology Specialist at another Boston-based IP firm, focusing on biotechnology-related patent prosecution.

Dr. Koipally did his graduate and post-doctoral work at Harvard in the field of eukaryotic gene regulation.
