Background

Ian J. Lodovice is an Associate in the Boston office of Fish & Richardson. His practice emphasizes patent prosecution and client counseling, primarily in the areas of pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. Mr. Lodovice is regularly involved in patent preparation and prosecution, patentability and freedom-to-operate opinions, due diligence, strategic patent portfolio development and management, as well as general patent counseling in the areas of pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.

Technical areas of Mr. Lodovice’s prosecution and opinion work include antibodies and antibody engineering; human and veterinary vaccines; recombinant nucleic acids and proteins; methods of treating human and animal diseases; gene therapies; screening and diagnostic assays; cell lines; biomarkers; pharmaceuticals; diagnostic agents; food processing techniques and compositions; and biofuel technologies.

Mr. Lodovice’s prior legal experience includes work as in-house Patent Counsel at Pfizer, Inc., and as an associate at a patent law firm in Hartford, CT. As in-house Patent Counsel at Pfizer, Inc., his practice focused on U.S. and foreign patent prosecution, opinion work, due diligence, and client counseling in support of Pfizer’s biopharmaceutical R&D organization. Prior to his law career, Mr. Lodovice gained extensive experience while a Research Scientist at Pfizer, Inc. His research efforts focused on target validation, assay development, and lead compound development in several therapeutic areas, including antibacterials, allergy and respiratory disease, and neurodegeneration.
