Legislative Patent Reform: Moving Forward, or Stalled in the Senate?
The recent rise in litigation and demand letters originating with Patent Assertion Entities (PAEs) has resulted in a variety of proposed legislative reforms and potential executive action. Pending bills introduced in the House and Senate aim to increase the risks and costs of such litigation for PAEs, but may affect defendants as well. In addition, the Supreme Court has also weighed in recently on the standard for awarding attorney fees. Meanwhile, state legislation has targeted demand letters. Join Fish principal Matt Samuel for a lively discussion regarding the issues presented by PAEs, the proposals for curbing their actions, and the implications for companies at risk of being targeted.
