Cosmic Shift Coming Soon to Internet Domain Name System

Tuesday, July 12, 2011
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm ET
On the web

The Internet domain name system will undergo dramatic changes in the months ahead. While .com has long reigned supreme, companies will soon have an opportunity to obtain new generic top-level domains (gTLDs) consisting of virtually anything, such as .sports, .newyorkfashion, and even “.brand.” Companies will also be able to make individual domain names available to the public within the gTLD.

Join us for this complimentary webinar as we discuss the challenges and opportunities that trademark owners will face with the launch of the new gTLDs and what you should be doing to prepare against potential abuses.

We will discuss:

  • Why the introduction of new top-level domain names will change the Internet forever
  • How to protect your trademarks from cybersquatters and other forms of infringement in the new domain name space
  • What top-level “internationalized” domain names are and what they mean for trademark owners
  • How a trademark owner should determine whether a new gTLD makes sense for its business

Speakers:

Keith Barritt, Principal, Fish & Richardson
Cynthia Walden, Principal, Fish & Richardson

RSVP to Kimberly Easton at easton@fr.com.

Web conferencing log-in instructions will be sent to the confirmed attendees one day prior to the event.
