Overview

Erin Knight is a senior patent agent whose practice includes patent prosecution, patent portfolio development and management, freedom-to-operate analysis, patent landscape analysis, due diligence, novelty searching, and patentability analysis.

Erin practices primarily in the mechanical arts and has extensive experience in the sectors of medical devices, high-tech manufacturing, energy, automated agriculture, and consumer products. She also recruits regularly for the patent prosecution group of the legal team and mentors junior members of the patent prosecution group. She further supports diversity initiatives and women’s initiatives, both within and external to the firm.

Prior to joining Fish & Richardson, Erin earned a doctorate in biomedical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, where she performed research to examine relationships among the cellular mechanical environment, cellular movement, and disease progression in cancer. Her research was interdisciplinary in nature and incorporated various aspects of mechanical engineering, cell culture, microscopy, and computational algorithms. She also has previous experience as a language editor of technical manuscripts for American Journal Experts, as a manufacturing engineer at Applied Materials, and as a product engineering intern at General Motors.

Erin enjoys traveling, hiking, and exploring plant-based cooking and nutrition.

Erin is also pursuing a J.D. at The University of Texas School of Law, with an expected graduation in the Spring of 2024.
