Background

Eifion Phillips is a Principal in the Delaware office of Fish & Richardson. His practice emphasizes patent prosecution, principally in the fields of organic chemistry, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology including small molecule and peptide therapeutics, drug formulation and delivery, new crystalline forms, methods of treatment, chemical processes, catalysis and analytical chemistry. Dr. Phillips has previous law firm experience as an attorney and a patent agent. His practice also includes supporting patent litigation, particularly litigation relating to pharmaceutical patents.

Prior to taking up legal practice, Dr. Phillips was a research scientist and chemistry team leader in medicinal chemistry at AstraZeneca from 1995-2005, where he worked to discover new medicines to treat respiratory, inflammatory, and central nervous system diseases. He was also a Fulbright Scholar with Professor Gilbert Stork at Columbia University, where his research addressed natural product synthesis. He is an inventor of approximately thirty international (PCT) patent applications which have resulted in numerous issued U.S. patents. He has co-authored ten peer reviewed journal articles, and presented papers on synthetic and medicinal chemistry at several national and international scientific meetings.
