Professional experience
Tina McKeon is a Principal in Fish & Richardson’s Atlanta office. She specializes in intellectual property matters related to life sciences but has diversified experience in all aspects of intellectual property law. Following law school, Dr. McKeon served as a law clerk to the Honorable Judge Stanley F. Birch, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, Atlanta (1996-1997).
Dr. McKeon is frequently recognized as a leading intellectual property lawyer. She was voted one of Atlanta Magazine's Georgia Super Lawyers-Rising Stars in 2005, Georgia Super Lawyers in 2008 and 2009, and one of Georgia Trend Magazine's "Legal Elite" in 2004 and 2007. Chambers and Partners' guide to national lawyers in 2009 stated that she "has a respected postdoctoral academic background and is highly regarded for her 'great depth of knowledge,' particularly in biotech matters." In addition, Dr. McKeon was recently selected for inclusion in the 2010 edition of The Best Lawyers in America®.
She is also active in various national and regional biotechnology organizations. For example, Dr. McKeon served on the BIO 2009 Steering Committee, the SEBIO Planning Committee (Early Stage Committee Chair) (2008 to present), the Board of Directors of Georgia BIO (2008-present).
She is an adjunct professor at Emory Law School (2005-present). She teaches in the TI:GER® Program, a collaboration between various Georgia Tech colleges and Emory University School of Law. The program focuses on technology commercialization in a multidisciplinary context.
Dr. McKeon’s research and academic background includes having worked as a postdoctoral associate in the Departments of Anatomy and Neurobiology and Physiology and Biophysics at University of Vermont, Burlington (1985-1990); as a senior research associate in the Department of Neurosciences, Case Western Reserve University (1990-1991); and as a visiting assistant professor in health sciences at Cleveland State University (1991-1993).
Selected presentations and publications
Dr. McKeon participated as a speaker at the TechLaw Series at the Emory University School of Law in 2003 and 2004 and as a speaker at the AIPLA 2006 Advanced Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) seminars, the Tennessee Biotechnology Association Annual Meeting 2007, and Biotech 2007 (Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania). Dr. McKeon presented in 2009 at a Kaufman sponsored workshop regarding patent issues and opportunities in technology commercialization. She also has over 14 scientific publications.

Additional information
Dr. McKeon is involved in various community activities that foster opportunities for children and emerging professionals. For example, she is a member of the Advisory Board of the Emerging Leaders Network of Georgia BIO (2006 to present) In 2009, she served as the co-chair of the host committee for the Petit Undergraduate Research Scholars Dinner, a fund-raising event for a scholarship program that allows Atlanta undergraduates to participate in research at the Parker H. Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She was recently asked to serve on the board of Future Foundations, a non-profit, youth development organization dedicated to preparing Atlanta's underserved youth for a successful future. Dr. McKeon is also a guardian ad litem for the Family Division of Fulton County Superior Court, Atlanta, Georgia.
