Professional experience
Jason W. Wolff is a Principal in the Southern California office of Fish & Richardson P.C. A member of the firm’s Litigation group, Mr. Wolff’s practice emphasizes intellectual property litigation and prosecution in the areas of electrical engineering, computer hardware and software, and network & wireless communications technology. He previously worked in the patent group at Oracle Corporation and for another national intellectual property law firm, which also included a stint in Munich, handling European-related patent matters.
Mr. Wolff's litigation practice focuses on software, networking, and other computer-related technology. Representative clients have included Adobe Systems Inc. (computer programming tools), Google Inc. (network-based advertising, databases, and navigation tools), Macromedia Corporation (web servers and programming tools), and Microsoft Corporation (operating systems, web servers, programming tools, computer gaming systems, directory systems, and codecs). Recently resolved cases include: HyperPhrase v. Google, 2006 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 92195 (W.D. Wis. December 20, 2006) (summary judgment of noninfringement in multi-patent dispute, case is on appeal), and Fred B. DuFresne v. Microsoft Corporation et al. (D. Mass. 2002) (favorable settlement in 2007).
Engineering experience
Industry experience as a Product Design Engineer for Barrington Systems, San Carlos, CA (1994-1996), designing embedded controllers, DDCs, and software for network-based client-server applications, as well as user client-server user interface and relational database design; consulting and clinical experience writing software for asset management, financial applications, high speed printer controllers, commercial/industrial controls, and thermal ampacity modeling for high-voltage power transmission (1991-1994). Familiar with most Internet/network standards and RFCs, also familiar with many programming languages and wireless telecommunications standards.
