John F. Hayden is a Principal in the Washington, D.C. office of Fish & Richardson P.C. His practice emphasizes preparation and prosecution of patent applications, client counseling, and preparation of opinions on infringement and validity of patents, with an emphasis on computer hardware and software, semiconductors, the internet, power industry, electronics, electrical equipment, and security trading and data management. His software experience includes methods of doing business, speech recognition and processing, computer games, communications, simulations, and image processing. His power industry experience includes circuit breaker and power system work for Cooper Power Systems. He is also familiar with other technologies such as processor structures and architectures, display technologies, communications techniques, including asynchronous transfer mode, Ethernet, and industrial protocols, fault tolerant computing, networking switches and routers, electronics, power equipment, lighting equipment, detection and inspection systems, automotive systems and components, sensors, optics, toys and games, medical devices, and mechanical designs. Mr. Hayden's clients include individuals and startups, as well as mid-sized and large corporations.

Technical experience
Prior engineering experience as a cooperative engineer working in microprocessor design for Digital Equipment Corporation, Hudson, MA (1986-1988). Considerable experience doing freelance database programming and design (1984-1992).
