Mr. Kirkland’s practice emphasizes general client counseling and patent prosecution with special expertise in Internet-related technologies, computer software, communications, and electronics. Internet and software experience includes e-commerce applications, enterprise software systems, middle ware, computer graphics, CAD, electronic imaging, user-interfaces, electronic messaging, methods of doing business, digital rights protection, database technology and computer networking. Other experience includes medical device technology, telecommunications, and WI-FI .

Mr. Kirkland's prior experience includes three years as a law clerk and as an associate of Flehr, Hohbach, Test, Albritton & Herbert, and nine years with Lockheed Missile and Space Co. as an electrical design engineer.
