Background

Brian J. Goldberg is an Associate in the Washington, D.C., office of Fish & Richardson.  Mr. Goldberg’s practice emphasizes client counseling in the areas of managing U.S. and foreign patent prosecution, patent portfolio development, patent infringement and validity opinions, patent due diligence, and post-grant patent procedures.  Mr. Goldberg also has patent litigation experience, representing clients in Federal District Courts and before the International Trade Commission (ITC).  In his legal career, Mr. Goldberg has worked with clients ranging from startups to Fortune 50 corporations.

Mr. Goldberg has experience in a variety of technological fields, including: medical devices, printers, robotics, telecommunication systems, software, control systems, automotive components, networking, document imaging, filters, graphical interfaces, speech recognition, search engines, e-commerce, vending machines, railcars, cloud computing, satellite technology, electronic article surveillance, and cooking systems.

Mr. Goldberg previously worked for six years as a Patent Examiner for the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  While in law school, Mr. Goldberg was awarded "Best Appellant Brief" at the Regional Giles S. Rich Moot Court Competition.  Prior to his legal career, Mr. Goldberg worked for a summer as a robotics engineer for the largest supplier of orchids and bromeliads in North America, and performed research in the field of devices for people with disabilities, for which he was a winner of the Student Design Competition at the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA) Conference.
