Background

Brian Apel is an Associate in Fish & Richardson’s Twin Cities office and practices patent litigation, including post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. He has worked for clients in the mechanical, electrical, and chemical industries; and has experience in pre-suit diligence including opinion work, discovery, damages, summary judgment, and appeals. Brian also has experience in patent prosecution, employment discrimination, and First Amendment law.

Brian graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Chemistry, specializing in organic synthesis and catalysis. Brian graduated from the University of Michigan Law School, where he was an Executive Editor of the Michigan Law Review. Before law school, Brian served as an officer in the U.S. Navy, specializing in the operation, maintenance, and repair of shipboard propulsion, electrical, and nuclear systems.
