Background

Andrew Rejent is an Associate in the Boston office of Fish & Richardson.  His practice focuses on patent prosecution in the mechanical, electromechanical, and software arts.  His experience includes drafting utility and design patent applications in the U.S. and for foreign/PCT filings as well as drafting responses to USPTO and foreign office actions. He also assists clients with patentability searches, product clearance and freedom to operate analysis, IP due diligence, and infringement and validity opinions.  Andrew’s experience covers a wide spectrum of technologies, including: turbomachinery, fluid mechanics, aeroacoustics, aircraft guidance and control, nuclear reactors, geothermal energy, needle-free injection devices, pressure sensors, surveillance cameras, cryogenic storage, prefabricated structures, and exercise equipment. Before studying law, he was a research assistant with the University of Cincinnati, where he developed and investigated noise reduction technologies for use on commercial and military jet engines.  Andrew designed and implemented an experimental model at the University’s Aeroacoustic Test Facility to study the fluid and acoustic effects generated by the asymmetries in a commercial engine’s exhaust flow.  Andrew’s thesis was entitled Experimental Study of the Flow and Acoustic Characteristics of a High-Bypass Coaxial Nozzle with Pylon Bifurcations and his research validated the experimental model against other large-scale testing facilities at NASA, General Electric, and Boeing.    While at Boston College Law School, Andrew served as the Editor-in-Chief of the school’s Intellectual Property and Technology Forum.
