Fish & Richardson Associate Lara Garner Awarded Tribute to Women & Industry (TWIN) by YWCA San Diego
San Diego, CA, July 21, 2011 – Fish & Richardson associate Lara Garner has been honored by the YWCA with a Tribute to Women & Industry (TWIN) award for her outstanding achievements and contributions to the San Diego legal community by providing pro bono legal services and her leadership at Fish.
Beginning in 2004, Lara provided pro bono services in a lawsuit Fish & Richardson and the Western Center on Law and Poverty brought against the County of San Diego regarding the County’s policies for providing healthcare services to indigent and working poor residents. For her work, Garner was the first law firm associate to receive the Fair Shake Award by the Western Center on Law and Poverty.
Garner has served as chairperson of Fish‘s Litigation Associates Advisory Committee and was chosen by her peers to serve as the associate liaison, to work to identify issues of importance to the associates and work with the firm’s management to address them.
Garner, a member of Fish & Richardson’s intellectual property and patent litigation team, manages complex matters involving highly technical issues. Drawing on her background as a mechanical designer before attending law school, Garner takes part in developing litigation strategies, interviewing and preparing experts, supervising other members of the litigation team, and making significant contributions in every aspect of running a litigation matter from pre-lawsuit preparation through post trial motions and beyond.
