Fish was ranked the largest intellectual property practice in the United States in the September 2008 issue of Managing Intellectual Property magazine (MIP). This is the third year in a row the firm has topped this annual survey. It is also the first time that any IP practice has crossed the 400-practitioners mark. Fish was found to have the largest IP practice in any of the four geographic regions included in the survey -- Asia, Europe, the United States, and Canada.
The magazine reported that Fish grew in almost all its offices, but especially in New York, Bay Area/San Francisco, and Atlanta. "Despite starting off as a boutique firm, Fish & Richardson has outgrown its counterparts and is one of the most successful IP firms in the country," noted MIP.
