Dallas Mavericks Motion Goes Viral

Fish & Richardson recently earned international media attention based on work for longtime firm client and 2011 NBA Champion the Dallas Mavericks. Dallas principals Tom Melsheimer and Steve Stodghill represent the Mavericks in a lawsuit filed by a minority owner who claims the team is mismanaged. Fresh off the Mavericks' victory over the Miami Heat in the 2011 NBA Championship, the firm asked a Dallas district court to dismiss the lawsuit in a motion for summary judgment that included as evidence a large photo of team owner Mark Cuban and Mavericks players celebrating their title by hoisting the NBA Championship trophy. The unique filing earned extensive media coverage in such diverse outlets as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, TMZ.com, Fox News and the hometown Dallas Observer, which labeled the motion as "The Greatest Legal Brief in the History of Jurisprudence."
