October 3, 2011

Boston, MA, October 3, 2011 – Thomas A. Brown, a principal at Fish & Richardson, has been selected as a 2011 “40 Under 40” honoree by the Boston Business Journal.  The award recognizes 40 area leaders, all under the age of 40, for their outstanding accomplishments professionally and in the community.  Mr. Brown, who was selected from over 500 nominations, will receive his award on October 6, 2011.

“No one is more deserving of this recognition than Tom.  He is a very talented and accomplished young attorney, and we are thrilled to see him singled out for this important honor,” said Timothy French, Managing Principal of Fish & Richardson’s Boston office.

At Fish, Mr. Brown focuses his practice on patent litigation and prosecution in the area of computer science and technology.  He has also handled two groundbreaking pro bono cases for the Electronic Frontier Foundation that established important legal principles at the intersection of criminal law and computer technology.

For the past five years, Mr. Brown has coordinated Fish’s participation in Northeast Housing Court’s lawyer-for-a-day program, helping scores of tenants avoid eviction and possible homelessness.  He also handles cases for the Political Asylum/Immigration Representation Project.

Mr. Brown received his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 2003.  He received his B.S., with distinction, magna cum laude, from Yale University in 1998.
